Why can't I see a complete list of my gut bacteria?

We focus on the top 50 "good" and "bad" bacteria because our science shows that they are the most associated with cardiometabolic health in UK and US adults.

Your results also provide insights about bug clusters; each cluster is associated with its own set of biomarkers:

  • Inflammation & Immune Health: This cluster is associated with GlycA, a biomarker of chronic low-grade inflammation.

  • Blood Sugar Control: This is linked to markers of glucose regulation and insulin production (HbA1c, fasting glucose, C-peptide).

  • Heart & Cholesterol Health: This cluster is associated with blood lipid markers like HDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipoprotein particle size.

  • Healthy Body Fat Distribution: This is connected to markers of visceral fat, liver fat, and BMI.

We believe it’s important to focus on areas that we know support overall health, which is why we provide information about bacteria most strongly associated with health outcomes, rather than a full list of all microbes present in your microbiome.
