Our gut microbiome has far-reaching influences on many aspects of our health, but it's important to remember that health conditions are incredibly complex with a multitude of interconnected factors. Your gut microbiome is just one piece of this complex puzzle.
Scientists at ZOE and around the world are still working to understand whether our gut bacteria play a causal role or whether they are a ‘middle man’ in disease processes. We focus on gut microbes that have been linked to cardiometabolic health outcomes, such as your blood lipid profile (triglycerides and cholesterol), insulin sensitivity, visceral fat mass, and inflammation markers.
The research in this area is fast-evolving, and as we make new discoveries, we may look to expand our focus on other health outcomes in the future. So, while achieving a healthy microbiome is a huge step in the right direction for overall health, it's not a single "cure" for a health issue. It's a key part of your body’s health equation, but it isn’t the only part.
Here at ZOE, we aren’t able to diagnose, prevent, or treat medical conditions. Our Gut Health Test is for general information only - to help our members understand how gut microbes can better support our health. We’d recommend speaking to your healthcare provider if you’re looking for specific medical guidance, as they can provide the most suitable and specialised advice for you.
