Let's get logging!

Over the next three days, we encourage you to log all of your meals in the ZOE app. This includes everything you eat and drink – breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks.

Logging your meals for at least three days will give us a more accurate picture of your normal diet. We'll use this information to give you feedback and advice for how to start improving your diet when your results are ready. The more you log, the more personalized your feedback and recommendations will be.

In this article, you can learn more about:

  • Tips and advice before you start

  • How to log meals in the ZOE app

  • What you'll get out of logging your meals

  • Other frequently asked questions

Tips and advice before you start

  • Get familiar with logging your meals in the ZOE app – If you haven’t already, tap the (+) button in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen to log your first meal. You can search for ingredients from our database or use the handy barcode scanner to easily find any packaged ingredients.

  • Eat and log foods and meals that you’d normally eat – Logging your meals for at least three days forms part of your diet assessment. This will give us a clearer idea of your regular diet, so we can give you more personalized feedback and recommendations when your results are ready.

How to log meals in the ZOE app

You can learn more how to use the ZOE app to log your meals, including homemade meals, in the video below. You can also find detailed step-by-step instructions here.

What will you get out of logging your meals?

1. Learn how your normal diet impacts your biology

We’ll analyze the impact of each logged meal on your biology. This will include insights into how they affect your blood sugar, blood fat, and gut microbiome. By logging your regular meals for at least three days, you'll get a much clearer picture of how the foods you typically eat impact your body.

2. Get feedback on foods and meals you eat regularly

When your results are ready, you’ll get a list of your personal ZOE Scores for all the meals that you log during your test. These will be grouped by meal type (breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks) so you can easily understand which meals work well for your biology, and where there's room for improvement.

3. Get personalized recommendations to help you reach your goals

We’ll also combine your logged meals with answers from your diet questionnaire to give you personalized recommendations you can use to support a healthier gut and metabolism.

Other frequently asked questions

Logging your meals during the testing phase is highly recommended. While we can still generate your results and personalized ZOE Scores based on the samples you've provided, logging your meals for at least three days will unlock more personalised feedback on your diet when your results are ready.

We encourage you to do your best when it comes to logging your meals accurately during your diet assessment. We care most about what, when, and how much you eat.

Yes, please log your drinks. This is because some drinks, like beer and wine, can affect your blood sugar responses. Others, like tea and coffee, can impact which microbes live in your gut. Any drinks you consume outside of your meals can be logged as snacks in the ZOE app.

I can't find an ingredient in the database. What should I do?

If you can’t find the exact ingredient you're looking for in our database, please search for the closest alternative. If you're searching for a homemade meal in our database, please try logging individual ingredients from scratch.
