How do I log my meals in the ZOE 2.0 app?

A step-by-step guide to logging your meals in the ZOE app

This video will walk you through how to log foods and meals (including homemade meals) in the ZOE app. You can also find written step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1: Add a new meal

Open the ZOE app, click the yellow plus button at the bottom, in the middle of your homepage.

Step 2: Your camera will be loaded 📷

If this is the first time using the app, please allow ZOE permission to your camera and photos

From here, you will have the option to take a photo of your meal, upload a photo, or scan a product barcode.

You can also swipe left on an ingredient to edit, swap, or delete it, ensuring accurate meal logs.

To take a photo of your meal 📸

  • Place your camera over your meal, and take a photo of your food.

  • This will save the photo, ingredients. And will provide your total fats, total protein, fibre, carbohydrate,s and calories for the meal.

  • Click eat now and your meal will be saved in the app!

To upload a saved photo

  • The app will allow you to upload photos of a meal you have eaten previously if you are not able to take the photo at the time

  • You can click the image Icon in the bottom left-hand side of the screen, and browse your camera roll to find the photo you are looking for

  • Once the photo is uploaded, select eat now.

To scan a barcode

  • If you have the barcode of a meal/item, you can scan this directly in the app, allowing the item to be picked up and saved directly from the barcode

  • Please press the plus sign, hold the barcode with the white outer frame, and wait while the app picks up the item

  • Select eat now when loaded

How to add individual ingredients

Once the photo has been uploaded, you may need to add more ingredients to your meal. To add more ingredients:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the listed ingredients.

  • Select 'add ingredients'

  • Use the search bar to search for the extra items you need to add to the meal manually, or you can use the barcode to scan the individual barcode

  • Click on the searched item and confirm the correct quantity

  • Select 'save changes' and this will add to the current meal

  • Once confirmed, click 'eat now' and log the meal in the app

  • Ingredient Import: Use 'Add ingredient' to include missed items when logging a meal.

  • Quick Access: Tap the plus (+) button to access recently added meals for quick logging.

How to change an ingredient added:

You may need to switch an ingredient logged. For example, if you upload a photo of a meal you have also logged recently, but change one ingredient, say you switch your asparagus to carrots, you can switch ingredients when uploading

  • Upload the photo

  • Check the list of ingredients and find the one you wish to change

  • Swipe left and select 'swap'

  • Use the search bar to find the new ingredient

  • Confirm the servings and save changes

  • Select eat now

How to change the quantities added:

After taking a photo of a meal, you may wish to amend the quantities included. For example, you have taken a photo including one fillet of salmon, but wish to change this to two.

  • Once the photo is uploaded, scroll down to the list of ingredients

  • Find the one you wish to amend and click on them item

  • Amend the quantities and click 'save changes'

  • The 'Eat now' to save the meal

Meal logging is optional, though consistency enhances personalised feedback. If overwhelmed, focus on logging main meals regularly.

Can I skip logging dinner tonight and resume tomorrow?

Yes, you can resume meal logging starting tomorrow if you skip tonight’s dinner.
