Protein is a key component for many body parts and functions including:

  • Cell and tissue building and repair.

  • Building muscle mass.

  • Supporting our immune system to protect us against viruses and bacteria.

  • Helping with bone health.

  • Promoting growth.

  • Reducing the risk of sarcopenia (age-related loss of skeletal muscle).

  • Producing hormones in our bodies.

  • Promoting satiety.

Adequate protein intake is always important, but can be particularly so for certain groups including seniors above 70 and women undergoing menopause or perimenopause.
