There may be some discomfort as the finger prick blood test involves pricking your finger with a very small needle. But most people don't experience all that much pain. The worst part is usually the anticipation, so if you do it quickly without hesitation, you should be totally fine.

There may be some soreness or bruising on the fingertip after pricking the finger, but this usually resolves quickly. If you're feeling nervous at all about the finger prick blood test, please feel free to contact us.

Help the test go smoothly by:

  • Keeping your hands really warm. You should run your hand under hot water for a few minutes before the test. This will help soften your hand and increase the blood flow.

  • Using the bandage provided and applying some pressure to the fingertip after the test. This may help ease bruising and soreness.
