What are the gut boosters and suppressors?

Your gut boosters and suppressors are foods that we’ve found in our research to be linked with higher levels of specific “good” and “bad” bacteria.

The prioritization system helps you decide which foods to include in your diet by classifying the lowest-ranking booster as the highest priority and the lowest-ranking suppressor as the least desirable.

The prioritization system in your results document determines that foods ranked lower are of higher importance for fostering good gut health or minimizing undesirable bacteria.

These are personalised to you based on your unique gut bacteria, rather than your current diet or dietary preferences. For this reason, you may notice some foods you don't tend to eat on your list if our research links them to higher levels of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ bacteria in your gut.

For example, some foods like meat or dairy may appear on your list even if they don't align with your current preferences. These foods are identified based on microbiome research and may not yet filter for individual dietary restrictions; however, ZOE is exploring adding such filters in the future.

Our team are constantly working on exploring more foods and improving our recommendations. The goal is to give you a wider range of foods that are most relevant to you.

ZOE's research team is also working on implementing dietary-preference filters to make recommendations more aligned with individual needs, enhancing user experience.
