Why did I get this warning?
It takes time for our bodies to remove fat from our blood after eating.
When you eat too many fat-rich foods in too short a window of time, it can build up in your bloodstream.
In our study, we found that some people still had elevated blood fat levels several hours after eating 70g of fat. As a result of this study, we believe that an individual’s fat tolerance can range from 55-100g of high-quality fat in 8 hours.
The exact amount depends on both your personal fat control and the type of fat you are eating, meaning we cannot provide a specific number to aim for.
What happens to my scores?
Scores are subject to decrease if you exceed your fat threshold.
What can I do to avoid getting this warning?
Prioritise high-quality fats over lower-quality ones.
You could space out your meals more to allow fat from your previous meal to clear.
You can use the app to identify and learn about the sources of fat in your logged meals to start applying these insights over time.
You can log your meals ahead of time at the times you think you will eat them to see if you will get the fat warning, and then adjust timings and/or fat amounts accordingly.
You could choose foods with lower amounts of fat for your next meal.
You can use the Improve features to learn more about your intake of lower quality fats.
Keep this mantra in mind: “Focus on Quality, Distribute Quantity.”
Here’s an example of how to manage fat threshold, assuming an average threshold of 70g.
