Why do I need to eat cookies?

There are many factors that can affect your biological responses to food, including your previous meal, how you combine foods, your sleep and activity, and the time of the day. The cookies in your test kit were specially designed by scientists to measure how your blood sugar and blood fat levels change in a standardized way.

They're made with high precision, using specific ingredients to achieve a particular nutritional composition. This allows us to control for all the factors that can impact your responses to food and deliver results that are specific to your biology.

Why are there two types of cookies?

The purpose of the cookies is to challenge your metabolism with high doses of fat and sugar over 6 hours. To be able to package the necessary amounts of nutrients in the challenge in a standardized way, we use cookies.

We created two specific recipes to understand your blood sugar and blood fat responses:

  1. Breakfast Cookies: Metabolic Challenge

  2. Lunch Cookies: US / UK Average Meal

How will my results from the test be used?

Thousands of people in the PREDICT studies ate the exact same test meals under standard conditions. When we looked at their blood sugar and blood fat response curves, we saw huge differences in how people responded, with up to 10x difference across participants.

In PREDICT 1 and 2, these standardized test meals were in the form of muffins. In your test kit, you’ll find cookies. Our scientists have carefully formulated and tested these cookies to make sure they are comparable with the muffin set meals.

When you eat the cookies in your test kit, we will compare your responses to those of the thousands of people in our product and the PREDICT studies. This enables us to calculate your personal blood sugar and blood fat scores, which will tell you about your body's ability to handle carbohydrate and fat-rich foods.
