How testing works
Once you’ve picked your start date, tasks will then show on the relevant days in your diary. Make sure to do these tests in the right order and mark them as complete with the correct timings. The leaflets in your kit also go over each task with tips, so take time to read them all before you start.
Test day is an important day! We recommend keeping your schedule flexible to avoid rushing through tests. If you have questions, check the guidance in the app or contact our support team.
Day 0 (the day before your test day)
Apply your blood sugar sensor: You’ll only have received a sensor if you opted in to our study.
This task will appear in your diary the day before your chosen test day and will run through how to do this.
The sensor can take a few hours to calibrate, so make sure to first scan it at least 6 hours before your cookies.
To make sure you’re hydrated for the blood test on test day, drink 1-2 glasses of water the evening before and keep a water bottle with you throughout test day.
Important: Remember to log into the LibreLink app using the ZOE credentials provided for you, do not create a personal account as this won’t be linked with your ZOE account.
Day 1 (ZOE test day)
Fast overnight for a minimum of 8 hours (nothing but still water, black tea or coffee and avoid exercising).
Eat and log the breakfast cookies
Fast and avoid exercising for 4 hours
Eat and log the lunch cookies
Fast and avoid exercising for 2 hours
Complete your blood test
After the blood test, you can eat and drink normally again.
Logging food starts on day 2, so you don’t need to log anything else on test day.
Collect your stool sample: This can be done on any day during testing, but we suggest doing it on day 1 and posting all your samples together. Look out for blue (or green) poop to log your gut transit time- not everyone will see this though and that’s fine.
Days 2-4: Log your own meals
Eat as you usually would and log your meals for these three days (you don’t need to log water).
You can do this through the yellow ‘+’ icon in the bottom right of the app.
You won’t be able to see your personal scores or the nutritional information for these just yet.
Day 5 onwards: Optional blood sugar challenges
Put your blood sugar to the test using our Breakfast blood sugar challenges to see how your body responds to different food combinations and exercise.
You can also check your blood sugar response to foods you regularly enjoy. Do you notice any patterns in your response? What effect does combining these foods or exercising have?
Day 14: Remove your sensor
If it falls off before day 14, don’t worry- we should have enough data to calculate your results after the first few days- the rest is just for fun!
Your results can take around 4 weeks to come back- you can check the status of your results in the Profile section of the app.
Please reach out to our customer support team if you have any urgent testing day queries or concerns. From the home page, tap the profile icon (top right), then the headset icon (top right), and “send us a message”.
Good luck!
